The story now of a summer camp that’s about a lot more than roasting marshmallows and nature walks, although there’s some of that for good measure. Grab the Torch is going on this week. It encourages kids to contribute to society. They hear from adults who’ve made a big difference in the world. David Aldrich is the founder. He brought the camp to Fountain Valley, south of Colorado Springs, last year. After attending a leadership conference sponsored by Fountain Valley School, Aldrich decided he wanted to host a camp there and the school embraced the idea. Aldrich tells CPR’s Pat Mack the impact the camp had on one teen.
