In the spring of 1961, George Blevins was struggling in college, and not feeling great about his life. He wanted to contribute and to feel useful. So, he decided to join the Freedom Riders. They were groups of whites and blacks who rode buses and trains across state lines, defying segregation in the Deep South. Fifty years later, Blevins is a librarian living in Nederland.
