The Paralympic Games start in London on August 29th. As part of our series Colorado Competes, we meet Alana Nichols, of Wheat Ridge. When she was 17, she was paralyzed from the waist down in a snowboarding accident. She struggled until she discovered wheelchair basketball, which rekindled her competitive spirit. Nichols eventually landed a spot on the women’s Paralympics team, which won the gold medal in Beijing. And as if that wasn’t enough, Nichols also won two individual gold medals, a silver, and a bronze in alpine skiing at the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics. She talks to Ryan Warner.
