It’s been a rough ride for the Colorado Symphony. A confidential report, leaked to the press in September, warned the orchestra might have to shut down without major changes. Twenty-five board members resigned. Some blamed financial woes on the musicians, even though they’d agreed to deep pay cuts. At the same time, a number of concerts were canceled in November and December. Now, the dust seems to have settled. The symphony has a new business plan and a new president and CEO, Gene Sobczak, formerly the executive director of the Arvada Center. He talks to Ryan Warner.
