It was one of the craziest primary seasons in Colorado’s history. When the votes were counted Tuesday night in the Republican gubernatorial primary, newcomer Dan Maes squeezed out a narrow victory over former Congressman Scott McInnis. Maes now faces Democrat John Hickenlooper, who is Denver’s mayor, in November. As you’ll hear, the GOP remains fractured by the primary and within minutes of his victory Maes was calling for party unity. The U.S. Senate seat brought primaries on both sides. Democrats chose incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet. Republicans picked Weld County District Attorney Ken Buck. It promises to be a busy three months for the chairs of Colorado’s political parties -- Democrat Pat Waak and Republican Dick Wadhams -- who joined us to discuss Tuesday’s results and the upcoming campaign.
