Update 11:30a: Evacuations were underway in Lyons, with help from Colorado Nat'l Guard
Ethan Marlatt worked as a disaster relief professional for FEMA for fifteen years -- but he thought he'd left that life behind. Thursday morning, he woke up to see his own town devastated. Marlatt lives on a cliff that overlooks the Planet Bluegrass grounds that make Lyons famous...and those grounds, and much of the town, are now under feet of water following a dam collapse upriver. "It sounds like the ocean out here," Marlatt says.
Very early Friday morning, Marlatt spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner and gave him an update, as he and more than 2,000 other Lyons residents wait to be rescued.
