Anyone who has gone birding a few times likely carries along a guidebook by David Sibley. His books brim with insightful descriptions and intricate paintings of each species, often from several perspectives.
Sibley, the son of an ornithologist, has been observing and painting birds since he was young. He is a modern-day version of the famous naturalist John James Audubon.
But until Sunday, there was one bird that breeds in North America that Sibley had never seen: the the Gunnison Sage-Grouse. He came to Colorado over the weekend to finally lay eyes on the bird.
Sibley talked about his life of birding and illustrating with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
