A hundred years ago, an educational reform movement swept the countrywith what were called “Cottage Schools.’’ The idea was that kidsshould attend school in small separate cottages. In 1911 that movement took shape --literally -- near Colorado Springs with construction of the Buena VistaSchool. Eventually, enrollment at Buena Vista dropped off. Three yearsago, the school closed and it was converted into a community center.This weekend, arearesidents will be on hand to mark the buidling's centennial. CPR’s PatMack speaks with former principal Alan Rasmussen.
