The Colorado Convention Center marks its 25th year today and is the site of events ranging from the Great American Beer Festival to the World Conference on Lung Cancer. The center’s longtime communications director, Rich Grant, who recently retired speaks with Ryan Warner about the center's history.
- At 2 million square feet, it’s the biggest building in Colorado.
- The center could hold the combined audiences of Coors Field, the Pepsi Center, Sports Authority Field at Mile High, and Dicks Sporting Goods Park.
- It also has the biggest kitchen in the state, with it's own garden that supplies the in house chefs with some 5,000 pounds of produce annually.
- The expansion of the Colorado Convention Center set the world record for "Most people taking part in a ground-breaking ceremony" with 1,200 people holding small gold painted plastic shovels. The San Jose Earthquakes' stadium now holds that record.
