Béla Fleck is widely credited as a genre-defying master of the banjo. The 16-time Grammy Award-winning musician has crossed over into many musical styles and ideologies: classical, jazz and rock.

He is back on the road with the Flecktones, four years after the band took a hiatus from its "blu-bop," a fusion of bluegrass and mid-1960s jazz. The reunion tour culminates in Colorado next week for the 43rd annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

Fleck spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel. And we've posted video clips below of the myriad ways Fleck expresses his musical vision.
