In 1969, a rural Colorado doctor got a request from a colleague to perform an unusual procedure. Before long, Stanley Biber was a leader in gender affirmation surgery, the small town of Trinidad became known as the "sex change capital of the world" and “going to Trinidad” became a catch phrase for those in the transgender community. Author Martin Smith’s new book is “Going To Trinidad: A Doctor, a Colorado Town, and Stories From An Unlikely Gender Crossroads.”  And, Biber's successor, Dr. Marci Bowers, weighs in on controversy surrounding the book.
