City administrator turned arts executive Janice Sinden became the new president and CEO of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts last month.

Sinden's background is in politics and business. She comes to DCPA after serving as Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock's chief of staff, and says her time working in city government has helped prepare her for this job. She is the third CEO in DCPA's nearly 40-year history and the first woman. She oversees the nonprofit's DCPA Theatre Company and the wing that presents Broadway shows.

Sinden succeeds Scott Shiller, who left earlier this year citing in his resignation letter a "significant divergence in my vision for the company and that of the leadership of the DCPA Board of Trustees."

Sinden spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel.
