The University of Colorado medical school isn’t just focused on training future doctors here, it’s trying to rebuild a medical system that virtually collapsed in Zimbabwe. The collapse came at a terrible time for that southern African nation. Doctors and nurses were fleeing, as HIV/AIDS tore through the population. People died from treatable conditions because they couldn’t get basic care. Doctors from the CU School of Medicine have been working with their counterparts in Zimbabwe to remedy this situation. In the last few years, they’ve begun to see some results. Dr. Thomas Campbell leads the CU team. He spoke with Ryan Warner.
