Here’s an intimidating word: Megadrought. That's a drought that lasts decades. Scientists know such events have occurred in the southwest, but until recently the records they had didn't go back very far. That changed with Cody Routson’s recent discovery near Wolf Creek Pass in southern Colorado. Routson’s a graduate student in geosciences at the University of Arizona. His findings were just published in the journal “Geophysical Research Letters.”
