In all the talk about the big health care overhaul, what’s come to be known as “Obamacare,” there’s one thing you don't hear a lot about. And that’s that the president gave states an out. He said, "If states can come up with even better ways of covering more people at the same quality and cost, this law allows them to do that, too."
State Senator Irene Aguilar, of Denver, wants to take the president up on that offer. She says she has a better way to cover more and to do it for less than the Affordable Care Act. It may come as a surprise that Aguilar is a Democrat, given that most of the criticism of Obamacare has come from the right. The Senator, who’s also a longtime family physician, explains her idea.
