The pitch for the play opening Friday night at Aurora Fox Arts Center isn't the easiest sell: A social justice story drawn on themes raised by the Trayvon Martin case, but funny too.

But director Betty Hart and executive producer Helen R. Murray think that's why "Hooded, Or Being Black for Dummies" is so essential. Hart and Murray talked to Colorado Matters about the show, and why it's a good fit for the Fox Arts Center.

"Hooded" opens Friday, Jan. 18 at the Aurora Fox Arts Center and runs through Feb. 10.
