The Promise of Algae

Listen Now

Algae are some of the fastest growing organisms on the planet. Anyone with a fish tank knows that. It’s a power people want to harness, especially because algae can be a source of fuel for automobiles and airplanes, but that market hasn’t exactly taken off. So, there will be a lot of talk about how to fulfill algae’s promise this week in Denver. The Algae Biomass Summit starts today. The governor is the keynote speaker. One of the companies represented is Solix Biosystems, of Fort Collins. Ryan Warner speaks with its CEO, Joel Butler, and then with an algae hunter of sorts, Matt Posewitz, assistant professor of chemistry at the Colorado School of Mines.
