There can be a disconnect between how people who are transgender look and sound. Now, they have help altering their voices to match their appearance, something that not only helps them feel more confident, but also keeps them safer.
A Denver-based speech pathologist Kathe Perez has been helping transgender people with their voices for more than a decade. Recently she and her business partner, Annika Kappenstein, created a smartphone app called Exceptional Voice App.
It includes series of video lessons that take the users through breath, pitch and other exercises in order to modify their voices. The videos allow users to see the techniques of voice change and provides feedback on the user's efforts.
