What do a mini horse and a dog have in common? They're the only two animals that can legally be service animals. Emotional support animals, on the other hand, can be cats, birds -- even pigs. A new Colorado law aims to better differentiate between the two and clarify what's allowed and where.
Current law says intentional misrepresentation of a pet, as either a service animal or emotional support animal, is now a petty offense that can result in a fine. Julie Reiskin is executive director of the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition. She spoke with Colorado Matters host Nathan Heffel about the law's somewhat limited power.
