Nico Novelli runs a reptile rescue in Boulder County called Canyon Critters. He says giving any animal as a gift is assuming the recipient wants a big responsibility. It's a particular problem for reptiles, who can live for decades and can be expensive to support. Novelli has gotten more than 100 calls this year from people who want to give up their pets.
