State lawmakers are considering a bill that could make it easier for rural Coloradans to produce their own electricity. The bill would allow more homeowners and business to do something called"net metering." That means when they produce their own power from solar panels or a small wind turbine, they could sell excess power back to the local utility. The state’s rural electric associations are fighting the measure, saying it would hurt their customers.KCFR's Anna Panoka reports.
