Campaigns Cram for Final Voter Registrations

The deadline to register to vote in the 2012 election is tomorrow. And KUNC’s Kirk Siegler reports, both presidential campaigns are in an all out blitz to register voters up until the last minute.

As of the end of September, registered Republicans outnumbered registered Democrats on Colorado’s active voter rolls by about 60,000. But in a conference call with reporters, the Obama Campaign said it’s since narrowed that gap in half. Former Denver Mayor and Obama Campaign national co-chair Federico Pena....

"We’re still very confident in being successful in suburban areas and we’re going to continue to work until the last minute on Election Day."

In the wake of the first debate in Denver, both campaigns have been focusing on the suburbs, where unaffiliated voters tend to outnumber registered Republicans or Democrats. In a statement, the Romney Campaign said Monday it’s now made personal contact with more than 1.6 million Coloradans leading up to Tuesday’s deadline.
