The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments has recently launched a new online forum that aims to make medical information easily accessible to seniors and adults with disabilities. KRCC’s Elizabeth Schoder reports.

The pilot website is called the Network of Care for Seniors and Adults with Disabilities. The website partners with Pikes Peak United Way 211 to offer a directory of resources in the area, a library of information on illnesses, and a marketplace for medically related products.

Guy Dutra-Silveira directs the Area Agency on Aging. He says he hopes the pilot program can be a one-stop shop for El Paso, Park, and Teller Counties.

"Having the right information certainly makes life easier. So often, when one is confronted with a problem all the resources that one needs to solve that problem are not in one place and we’re attempting to make this the one place for those with aging and disabilities."

Colorado is among four other states with the pilot site. Boulder and Denver launched their Network of Care websites over a year ago, and Dutra-Silveira says Boulder’s interface gets over one million hits annually.
