More than 250 volunteers joined the search for a missing area teenager this weekend. In Southwest Colorado, people wearing orange vests walked for miles along a busy county road outside Durango. They were looking for Dylan Redwine’s clothes or other evidence to help find him. KRCC's Elise Thatcher was there and filed this report.
It was a chilly, windy day, but that didn’t drive away local residents like Doug Miller. He said the golden rule inspired him to spend his free day looking for clues in Redwine’s disappearance.
"It’s exciting to be a part of something but also you understand the sadness of why we’re here as well. That mixture of feelings you can kind of see it on people’s faces and hear it in their conversations."
Searchers found ten items of interest that day that investigators are looking at more closely. Thirteen-year-old Dylan Redwine was reported missing by his father three weeks ago today. The teen was on a court-ordered Thanksgiving visit with his dad, who lives the Durango area.
Today officials issued a warning about a Facebook scam. They said a man who claims to have Dylan Redwine is demanding money. A spokesman for the investigation urged people not to send payments.
