President Barack Obama delivers the State of the Union tonight at the nation’s capital. As KRCC’s Katherine-Claire O’Connor reports, among the attendees is Republican Congressman Doug Lamborn of Colorado’s 5th district.
Last year the Congressman skipped the speech citing differences with the President. But this year he’s choosing to attend, and representative Lamborn says he would like to see the President act as a mediator between the parties to better serve the country.
“If he was more bipartisan there would be more common ground. And rather than confrontations coming to front every so often as deadlines approach, we would be able to plan out a future based on mutual agreement.”
Lamborn says economy woes, energy growth, and defense cuts should be some of the topics the President addresses. For KRCC news, I’m Katherine-Claire O’Connor.
