The 26,000 soldiers at Fort Carson are still on duty during the federal government shutdown, but life on the Army base near Colorado Springs is a little different since much of the government stopped running. A thousand civilian employees are on unpaid furlough. That's about half the base's civilian workforce. Fort Carson spokeswoman Dee McNutt talked with CPR's Mike Lamp about what the shutdown means there.
