(Photo: Glenn Ross)The Boulder Philharmonic this Saturday performs a concert titled “Wings and Spirits,” with music by Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinsky and Jean Sibelius.
The program starts at 7:30 p.m. at Macky Auditorium in Boulder:
Music Director Michael Butterman will conduct and soprano Twyla Robinson will be the soloist on “Four Last Songs.” The Boulder Philharmonic is playing the Strauss piece to honor the composer’s 150th birthday.
“Four Last Songs” features horn parts that are almost as prominent as the vocal melodies. Click the above audio for more on Strauss and his love for the horn, courtesy of CPR Classical’s Charley Samson.
