The Colorado Symphony welcomes back Music Director Laureate Marin Alsop this weekend with a live concert broadcast Saturday night on CPR Classical.

Alsop will lead the symphony in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1. The program starts at 7:30 p.m. and also includes Mozart’s Symphony No. 39 and John Adams’ “Short Ride in a Fast Machine.”

Alsop spoke with CPR Classical’s Charley Samson about Saturday’s program and each of the pieces to be performed. Click the above audio to hear her insights.

Saturday’s concert is one of six live Colorado Symphony broadcasts from CPR Classical for the 2014-15 season.

Alsop served as Music Director of the Colorado Symphony from 1993 to 2005. She became Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony in 2007.
