new production of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” opens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, and CPR Classical will broadcast the tale of love and betrayal live.

The artistic team behind the new production -- conductor Ari Pelto, director Keturah Stickann, and Opera Colorado general director Greg Carpenter -- visited CPR Classical to talk about quickly turning a group of strong-willed artists into a cohesive ensemble.

“I actually sometimes find that it’s the butting of heads that brings the most exciting ideas to the stage,” Stickann said. “Ultimately you come to some conclusion together that maybe brings you both to a place you’ve never been before. That’s where the exciting work happens.” Click the audio above for more from the interview.
