Here's what's on tap for the week of Dec. 1.  

Monday

How Joseph Haydn fathered the string quartet, and an Elias String Quartet performance of one of his pieces from a previous Friends of Chamber Music Concert. 

Tuesday  

The story of Viktor Ullmann, who composed some of his finest works in a World War II concentration camp. We'll share a recording of his String Quartet No. 3, which is on the Dover Quartet's Wednesday program at the Newman Center

WEDNESDAY 

The story of Menotti's one-act Christmas opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors," and a recording of the piece. A Central City Opera production opens Thursday in Highlands Ranch.

Thursday

A holiday performance by the Colorado Children's Chorale, which performs this year's seasonal concerts on Saturday and Sunday.

FriDAY

A look at Beethoven's Symphony No. 5, and a performance of the piece by the Boulder Philharmonic. The Colorado Symphony plays an all-Beethoven concert this weekend.
