Snowmass Village man accused of drunken bus heist

A Snowmass Village man is accused of briefly stealing a city bus, then leaving it unharmed and telling police he was too drunk to remember taking it.

The incident happened last week, when a 16-passenger shuttle went missing from the town depot. Police located the shuttle bus in a nearby parking lot, unharmed and abandoned.

Security footage led them to 58-year-old Raymond Joseph Piche. He told officers he was playing pool that night and had consumed six to 10 shots of alcohol with beer chasers. He said he didn't remember taking the bus.

Later, the man said he "probably" took the bus. The Aspen Daily News reports that Piche was arrested Monday and is charged with driving under the influence and aggravated motor theft.
