Denver Mayor Michael Hancock has opted out of a scheduled speech at the Creating Change gay rights conference because of he believed protestors wouldn't permit him to be heard, his office confirmed.

Those protestors are angry about officers from the Denver Police Department shooting and killing 17-year-old Jessica Hernandez. Police say she was driving a stolen car toward an officer when she was shot. Her funeral is today. The incident is still under investigation.
