Hear From the Top’s Denver show on CPR Classical this Sunday

Local classical music students to be featured on From The Top.

NPR program "From the Top" set up shop in Denver for a recent concert featuring host Christopher O'Riley and composer Danny Elfman, and CPR Classical will broadcast the performance at 6 p.m. Sunday.

The program, taped Feb. 20 at the King Center Concert Hall on the Auraria Campus, features talented young musicians demonstrating their skills.

Musicians from Denver School of the Arts and other performers at the taping paid tribute to Elfman by playing from his film scores for "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Milk." Elfman also shared stories about being an aspiring musician in his teens.

This week's show also includes performances by two other Colorado musicians. Harpist Abigail Enssle plays excerpts from "Gargoyles" by Lowell Lieberman and pianist Scott Chiu plays a movement from Francis Poulenc's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano.
