Deal hunters in Boulder now have a safe place to meet buyers and sellers from Craigslist and other websites.
The CU-Boulder Police Department says it has set up a "safe zone" for transactions on campus near the department's offices at 1050 Regent Drive.
"The idea is to cut down on potential fraud and robberies by offering this location. While we encourage the use of this parking lot for transactions, our personnel may not participate or act as official witnesses in the transactions," the department said in a Facebook post. "Our employees are not available for legal advice or allowed to settle civil or pricing disputes between parties involved in transactions occurring at this location."
Other police departments across the country have recently set up similar safe zones to head off potential crimes. Last month, a Longmont woman was brutally attacked after responding to a Craigslist ad for baby clothes.
