Job Listing Seeks ‘Change Agent’ In New Denver Sheriff

"The new Sheriff will serve as a change agent for DSD and have the task of creating a world-class department," the job posting reads, alluding to myriad issues the department has dealt with in recent years. An independent report released this spring recommended a complete overhaul for the department beset with complaints of excessive force against inmates.

Interim Sheriff Elias Diggins took over the department after his predecessor stepped down last summer.

Hillard Heintze, a Chicago-based consulting group, is conducting the search. The city plans to announce the hiring of a new sheriff in three to four months, a city press release says.

All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply, the release says.
