Fort Carson Officer Faces Court-Martial In Child Porn Case

A lieutenant colonel at Fort Carson faces a court-martial on charges of viewing child porn on a government computer while in Afghanistan.

The Gazette reports Patrick O'Mahoney will face a military trial next month related to computer searches in September 2013 that prosecutors say included the phrase "very young teen undressed."

Fort Carson officials didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from O'Mahoney.

He's been in the service 30 years. Fort Carson called him up from reserve to active duty to face charges that include disobeying orders, accessing pornography on a government computer and attempting to view child pornography.

Court-martial panels have the ability to strip pay and order dishonorable discharges and jail time.

O'Mahoney he's the highest-ranking Fort Carson officer to face a court-martial in 10 years.
