3 Tax Measures Could Be Heading To Pueblo’s Ballot

Pueblo County Commissioners will consider on Monday adding three tax questions to this Novembers’ ballot.

Voters could be asked to approve a one-cent sales tax increase to help fund the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, including the construction of a new jail.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain, voters also could be asked if an excise tax should be placed on marijuana grown in unincorporated Pueblo County to fund a scholarship program for county students. The money would also cover public infrastructure improvements.

The third question would ask for permission to retain $150,000 in excess sales tax revenue generated from the first year of recreational marijuana sales for parks and recreation improvements.
