California-based Milken Institute’s annual best-performing index ranks cities in large and small metro areas across the U.S. based on growth in employment, wages and technological output.

Greeley, Colorado was ranked ninth in the country with wage increases higher than the national average from 2008 to 2013. Fort Collins, described as having a relatively large and diverse high-tech sector, rose to 14th.

The Denver-metro area fell a bit from last year to 16th. And Boulder dropped to 22nd because job gains have slowed.
