Colorado’s hail season is not far away and property owners and insurance companies could be in for another expensive few months.
Insurance companies handled more than 180,000 hail-related damage claims in the past three years. That total puts Colorado second on the list of states with the most claims, behind Texas, and ahead of neighbors Nebraska and Kansas.
Hail storm season begins with rising temperatures in the late spring. It’s unclear for now whether Colorado’s will be a fairly mild season, like last year, or an especially damaging one, as in 2014.
