Road To Mount Evans’ Summit Set To Open Wednesday

State transportation officials say the highway leading to the summit of Mount Evans is set to open after more than a month of clearing snow.

The Denver Post reports the road opened to Summit Lake on Friday and will be open all the way to the top Wednesday. At 14,264 feet above sea level, the summit is central to the Mount Evans Recreation Area, which hosts more than 150,000 visitors each summer

Three developed sites are along the corridor. Two are in the Arapaho and Roosevelt national forests — Mount Goliath Natural Area and Nature Center and the Summit of Mount Evans Interpretive Site. Summit Lake Park is owned by the city and county of Denver.
