It's plain to hear why Dragondeer has become one of Denver's favorite bands. The quartet crafts rollicking blues-rock anchored by Eric Halborg's soulful vocals and Cole Rudy's guitar and mandolin chops.
The band recorded the songs of its new EP, "Topanga Canyon Sessions, Vol. 1," in California with producer Mark Howard, whose resume includes work with Bob Dylan, Tom Waits and Willie Nelson. The opening song, "When I See You," channels the spirit of classic Motown soul.
CPR's OpenAir presents Dragondeer's record release party for "Topanga Canyon Sessions Vol. 1" May 5 at the Bluebird Theater.
