Parents of former students at the Denver School of the Arts want the city's school board to launch an external investigation into allegations of abusive behavior by two vocal instructors.

The demands come after two internal investigations this school year into claims of alleged abusive behavior in the dance and vocal programs. The two vocal instructors are currently on a second round of administrative leave. Two dancers teachers resigned in January.

A Denver Public Schools official has sent a letter to DSA parents saying the district will use a professional facilitator to "build a better future" for the program. The district letter acknowledges the school has "faced several challenges." Read the district letter in full.

School leaders will also schedule conversations with parents, staff, students and the leadership team.
