U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum Unveils New Logo

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Museum (USOPM) has unveiled a new logo.

The symbol is diamond-shaped with five diagonal stripes with colors taken from the Olympic rings and the Paralympic agitos. The stripes were also inspired by the American flag. Officials say the overall design suggests an abstract flame, creating a link to the iconic symbol of the Olympic and Paralympic movements.

"The new logo for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum represents a blend of classic influences and modern trends," said USOPM CEO Christopher Liedel in a statement. "The Museum experience merges the tradition of the Olympic and Paralympic Games with state-of-the-art technology to tell the inspiring stories of Team USA athletes in a compelling way, and this logo is reflective of that balance."

The logo will be used along with the museum's existing one.

The 60,000-square foot museum is set to open this summer and is billed as one of the most accessible buildings in the world. It's located in the southwest portion of downtown Colorado Springs next to America the Beautiful Park.
