The Lakewood police officer that was wounded during last week's mass shooting in the Denver metro area was released from the hospital Thursday.

Officer Ashley Ferris was shot in a confrontation with the gunman and required multiple surgeries.

Ferris is also credited for fatally shooting the gunman and ending the violence. Five people were killed and others injured in multiple locations by the suspect last week.
