- U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., – Academy officials have directed a base closure for normal operations for Wednesday. Only mission essential personnel and personnel in direct support of cadet activities such as in-processing and student academics should plan to report for duty. Contact your chain of command for specific reporting instructions.
- Colorado Springs, CO- Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has set up a second emergency small animal evacuation shelter at the Freedom Financial Services Expo Center located at 3650 N. Nevada Ave., Colorado Springs, CO, 80909. This second site is will help accommodate animals of evacuees in the new mandatory evacuation areas.
- Andrew Romanoff and Michael Bennet tried to make peace just days after a bitter primary race. The candidates gathered on the state capitol steps Thursday for what was billed as a unity rally. As Bente Birkeland reports, the chairman of the Democratic National Committee flew in especially for the event.
- The Republican race for Governor was a nail biter, with Evergreen businessman Dan Maes claiming victory early this morning. Former congressman Scott McInnis and Maes were locked in a dead heat for most of the night, at times separated by just a few hundred votes. Bente Birkeland has more from Denver.
- Colorado’s incumbent Democratic Senator Michael Bennet has fended off a fierce challenge from Andrew Romanoff in yesterday’s primary, while Tea Party favorite Ken Buck has prevailed in the Republican Senate primary. Buck’s victory follows a trend of GOP candidates nationwide running on the anti-establishment ticket.
