Event Description

"A rich variety of music forms the basis for this program about indelible influence and remembrance; about the imprints we observe and create in life, from the tracks desert animals leave in the red sand, to the legacies left by loved ones. The magnificent, secluded canyon we’ll hike to is the perfect setting for Bieber’s Passacaglia “The Guardian Angel”, Shih-Hui Chen Returning Souls, and Dance by Theo Lovendie, all for solo violin. Music for string quartet concludes the program, including Barber’s moving Adagio. The MMF remembers, with great fondness and gratitude, the lasting imprint that Bruce Browning, inventor, philosopher, and avid music fan, made on our organization.

Among our most popular events, these scenic hikes offer unparalleled musical intimacy and engagement with the artists. At the trailhead, a Canyonlands Field Institute naturalist familiarizes hikers with the terrain and leads them to the scenic concert location."
