Finding It at FamilySearch: Keeping Up with What's New

FamilySearch is constantly evolving, with new records, tools, and features being added—and existing ones updated—on a regular basis. This presentation goes beyond simply highlighting what’s new by focusing on how to keep up with changes strategically and without feeling overwhelmed. Learn where to find official updates, how to spot behind-the-scenes changes that affect search results and research workflows, and how to recognize both recent developments and features that are coming next. The session will explore updates across the platform, with an emphasis on why these changes matter and how they can directly impact discovery, accuracy, and collaboration. Designed for genealogists of all experience levels, this talk will help you use FamilySearch more confidently, efficiently, and intentionally as the platform continues to grow and evolve.
Taneya Koonce combines 25+ years in information science with a passion for genealogy. An enthusiastic educator and dedicated volunteer leader in the genealogy community (e.g., Afro-American Historical & Genealogical Society, WikiTree,.USGenWeb Project), she champions preserving family legacies and focused memory keeping. Through her Academy of Legacy Leaders and Taneya Junk Journals newsletters and communities she fosters inspiration and makes research, memory keeping, and organization approachable, guiding others in tracing and safeguarding their personal and family histories for future generations.
