“Yu & I” Duo

The Steeple Event & Conference Center, 701 Macon Avenue, Canon City, 81212

Event Description

Yu & I, presented by the Fremont County Community Concert Association, will perform on Sunday. February 18th, at 3:00 p.m., at The Steeple Event & Conference Center, 701 Macon Avenue, Canon City. YuEun Kim and Ines Thome’, classically trained musicians in violin and guitar, have been performing together since 2013 upon finding themselves housemates in Los Angeles. YuEun from Korea, and Ines from Germany were both studying at UC Thornton School of Music. They immediately connected through their love of chamber music and good Korean food.

They have shared numerous stages in California and excited their audiences with charisma and virtuosity. Both musicians are winners of multiple solo competitions and have performed around the world. Their programs range from early music performed on period instruments to original popular music arrangements performed to the highest level of artistry. Their program features music with popular influences showcasing the versatility of their instruments. The listener can look forward to songs and dances that will invite them to hum along and move their feet: beautiful Italian melodies, flowing songs from the USA, passionate dances from Argentina, enchanting songs from Germany, dreamy melodies from Korea and fierce rhythms from Romania will transport the listener to a magical world of sound.

Ms. Kim concertizes internationally as a soloist and chamber musician in a wide variety of repertoire. She has performed in the U.S., Asia and Europe, and was a top prize winner at Boulder International Chamber Music Competition Art of Duo. She was a semi-finalist at the Qindao International Violin Competition in China and at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition in New Zealand. She recently received the Jeffrey Thomas Award from American Bach Soloists.

Ms. Thomé’s exceptional talent and dedication to music are evident through her numerous awards from international competitions in Germany, Italy and the United States, including First Prizes at the Beverly Hills National Auditions, the International Guitar Competition in Walnut Creek and the American Guitar Society’s Bickford Competition. She performs at prestigious venues both nationally and internationally as a solo and chamber musician

Season memberships for this and two other concerts are still available. Admission for students under 19 accompanied by a member is complimentary.
