Two years ago, when South Sudan had just become its own country, a group of medical doctors and volunteers traveled to restore vision to dozens of residents in one of the most underdeveloped parts of the world.

One of the volunteers was Jordan Campbell, of Lafayette, who is a writer and filmmaker. And, when he returned home, he made "Duk County: Peace is in Sight in the New South Sudan," which is now out on DVD through the John Dau Foundation.

The film has won eight awards, including Best Documentary at the Boulder Adventure Film Festival and Best Short Film at the Crested Butte Film Festival.
