Nura Afia, 24, has velvety skin, smokey eyes and thousands of YouTube followers who want her beauty tips. She's also the first woman to appear in a CoverGirl ad campaign wearing a hijab.

Afia is one of a diverse group of models tapped by CoverGirl to take part in its new So Lashy! BlastPro mascara ads. James Charles, another well-known beauty blogger, is also featured in the campaign and is the company's first male spokesmodel.

Afia's videos range from advice about how to apply lipstick and eyeshadow to stories about her husband and young daughter.

She spoke with Colorado Matters host Ryan Warner.
